Your Little One's Progress Your little one's once-spacious world has become a squishy, filled-up space, which is why he’ll love to be swaddled and cuddled up in your arms, to make him feel at home in the womb. His head is about the same size as his abdomen and the rest of his body is perfectly proportioned. His internal organs are formed and now ready for the outside world. At this point in your pregnancy, it becomes a waiting game. Your little one will continue to pack on weight and practice his functions and new skills, which he can’t wait to show off to you! What’s Happening in Mommyland? The end is near, and you feel like you can go at any second! As you walk around, you may notice your baby has dropped, which means you feel like you are carrying the baby in a sling between your legs. This is called “lightening,” in which the baby gets into position for delivery by dropping into the pelvic opening, While this is a sign of getting closer to the big day, it does not mean labor has begun. Don’t worry: Your body will let you know when it is time.
Sleeping is also getting difficult, and you find yourself tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable. Try to relax during this time and get as much sleep as you can. This might be a good week to make sure you are packed for the hospital, just in case you have to go in the middle of the night.
This week, talk with your doctor regarding the process for labor and delivery in this stage. At what stage will he or she recommend inducing labor? In addition, make sure you have your doctor's contact information, if your labor happens when the office is not open.
Fitness Tips – Birgitta Lauren • Even though it may not be that much, exercise as hard as you can, get as strong for labor as you can. Red raspberry tea can be good at this time to prep the uterus for labor.
