Body, Mind and Spirit Learning the importance of aligning the body, mind and spirit is great for reducing your level of stress as well as improving your overall health and well-being. The journey of life can bring on many challenges, and how we deal with or handle these challenges is part of what defines who we are. As there are many different techniques and ways to handle these challenges, it is important that you find a way that works for you. Yoga, for many people helps to align the body, mind, and spirit by giving you the physical and mental capacity to recognize the storms or challenges we face regularly, and helps those stresses to unfold right in front of you. Yoga also aids in stimulating, and detoxifying all anatomical systems such as: Endocrine, Respiratory, Circulatory, Digestive, Immune, Lymphatic Muscular, Reproductive, Digestive, Skeletal,
Urinary, and the Nervous system. Click here, or visit the HB's yoga section located under Fitness and Exercise.
Mental Alignment
Take a slow, controlled deep breath through your nose, and now exhale even slower and more controlled through the nose. Notice how this makes you feel? Breathing and being aware of our breath helps bring us into the present moment, focusing on what is happening right here and now. When people learn to train the mind through yoga or other meditative practices, it helps to aid in their focus, awareness, and what's unfolding in front of them. This can allow people to more fully experience each moment of their lives through a higher level of consciousness. Yoga teaches the practice of constantly reminding the body to breath. Breathing has been used and is still used in treating many mental issues, such as depression and even panic attacks. Breathing has also been shown to significantly decrease pain in many pain management clinics. Meditation, yoga, and breathing all help to focus the mind and when the mind is focused your every day experiences can be heightened.
Spiritual Alignment
Spiritual alignment simply means you feel a greater energy connection with the god or self in which you believe. The relationship with the self is strengthened through your internal awareness.
Yoga literally means, "to join" the body, mind and spirit. When these three aspects work in harmony, it can help you to find peace from within. By practicing yoga on a regular basis, you may feel lightness and/or a greater spiritual connection to the world in which you are a part of. Hostility and anger may start to lift, and a much deeper self-actualization may be obtained.
The most important aspect of understanding how to align your body, mind, and spirit is to be aware of what you are experiencing without trying to suppress any of your feelings and emotions, rather to be more aware and allow your mind, body, and spirit to experience these feelings and emotions fully.
